As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread and transform everyday lives, Rose Nzyoka and Vikas Dwivedi argue that using digital tools to improve systems to manage real-time data and decision-support systems could help the response to COVID-19. In our most read post this month, they propose five initiatives that ministries of health in low-and-middle-income countries need to focus on to limit the spread of COVID-19.

Anniek Barnhoorn, Florian Krampe, Luc van de Goor, Elizabeth Smith, and Dan Smith rethink a regional approach towards sustainable governance of water resources for the Nile and Juba–Shabelle basins in our second most read post this month.

In our third most popular post, Candace Famiglietti and Maria Ivanova write that to avoid the next global pandemic, exotic wildlife trade and consumption must be addressed.

Our fourth and fifth most read posts bring attention to countries at heightened risk of COVID-19 impacts due to existing vulnerabilities. James Blake writes that COVID-19 could have a catastrophic impact in fragile countries already experiencing crises, like Burkina Faso and Somalia. In our fifth most read post this month, Chantal Krcmar writes about the impact of India’s coronavirus lockdown on the country’s migrant workers.
